Den första som använde termen var sociologen Ruth Hill Useem, som redan på 50-talet förklarade att TCKs är ”Barn som följer med sina föräldrar till en annan kultur.” Third culture kids (TCK) are a subgroup of CCKs who have spent a significant part of their formative years outside of their parents’ culture.
